Do you have problems with your HP - Compaq, HP Pavilion, HP Pavilion laptop/notebook power cord or AC power jack/plug connection: either no power or intermittent power?
Common Symptoms:
Intermittent power cutouts for no reason
Does not charge a new, or old, properly inserted battery
Wiggling or moving the AC/DC power adapter jack/plug causes temporary connections
Sparking, smoking, or burnt smells emanating from the area near the AC/DC power jack/plug
Common Causes:
These problems are all usually
caused by the cooling system being clogged, and subsequently causing overheating inside
the laptop/notebook. This causes the solder on the terminals of the AC jack, usually the
positive, to melt, resulting in a bad connection. The cooling system is prone to clog
because of dust, hairs, etc. being drawn into the heat exchanger. This is primarily caused
by hardwood floors and/or your pets - or in one case, if you raise Chinchillas.
Common Solutions:
To avoid the problem clean out the
cooling air intake(s) on your Compaq Presario or HP Pavilion notebook laptop weekly for
bad situations, and monthly, if you have wall-to-wall carpets, no pets, and you don't live
on a dirt road. You can also find an auxiliary cooling stand to fit on the bottom of the
Compaq Presario laptop or HP Pavilion notebook, but this sometimes exacerbates the problem
because it causes more air, and therefore, more crud to pass through the cooling system on
Compaq Presario laptop or HP Pavilion notebook.
And if this advice is too late, you can send it to us and we will replace the AC jack on
the Compaq Presario or HP Pavilion motherboard on the Compaq Presario laptop or HP
Pavilion notebook, AND FOR OUR BASE

CONTACTS ON THE DAUGHTER BOARDS AND MEMORY STICKS, REPLACE ANY MISSING SCREWS, ETC. ON
YOUR COMPAQ PRESARIO LAPTOP or HP Pavilion notebook. We also include a care and
preventative maintenance sheet so that your new COMPAQ/HP laptop/notebook AC jack can last
longer than the OEM.
